Fresh Off the Block
Alright, we're going to go ahead here and assume that you've most likely come out of the Tutorial on the game, and have done some of your own advancements within the city on your own before coming to the Forums, and specifically - these guides. So we're going to skip the basics, you've most likely learned them. Instead, I'll tell you some of the best ways to manage your city early on in the game and get it sprawling fast.
۞ Keep your Corn & Cacao Farms upgraded at about 1-2 levels ahead of your Limestone & Obsidian Quarry.
۞ Use your Troops to Raid Lv.1 & Lv.2 Barbarian Encampments early on, they aren't very difficult and can be rewarding.
۞ When training Troops, focus on one Troop type rather than having a multitude. 200 Lancers will be better than 50 Bowman & 100 Lancers.
۞ Use the 'Market' to help you accumulate resources that gather less quickly, and are spent frequently. Like Limestone for Cacao.
۞ Even though it's not necessary, try to follow the Quest lines provided in-game. They are usually the optimal way to go.
۞ Use your Resource Production Schedules wisely. If you are going to be on for an hour or more, use the 10 minute production tabs.
Now to cover the topic of Seasons within the game. Seasons are required for some Structure Upgrades & Technology Research throughout the game. However, this is not all they're useful for. Seasons can add modifiers to your Resource Production, Construction Time, Troop Corn Cost & Travel time. Sometimes you may find it necessary to use your 'Moon Temple' to perform special Dances to change season to either increase, or decrease the amount of production of a Resource that you may need or have too much of. All Seasons except for 'Spring' have Pros & Cons. Spring is neutral, and is like a 'Normal' Setting for the Game.
۞ Spring: Neutral Benefits - Everything Produces and Costs at a normal interval.
۞ Winter: +5% in Limestone Production, +20% in Obsidian Production, 20% Reduced Construction Times - This is best used for Upgrading Structures
۞ Summer: +20% in Cacao Production, 20% Reduced Research Times - This is best used for researching Technologies.
۞ Autumn: +20% in Limestone Production, +20% in Corn Production, 20% Reduced Unit Recruitment Times - This is best used for training/sending Armies.
Amber Stones & The Tzolkin Wheel
Amber Stones is a unique currency in the game that you are allowed to obtain, fore free, once per day from successfully raiding a Barbarian Village. These Amber Stones can be used in the Tzolkin Wheel, located as a Tab on your Task Bar at the bottom of the screen. The Tzolkin Wheel can offer a great deal of benefits and packages, and can be used for 1 Amber Stone. The Wheel's packages reset every hour. You also have the possibility of earning unique Items from the 'Shop' from the Tzolkin wheel, as well as a chance at earning some unique troop types.
Military Units - Tactics - Support
Military plays a large part in this game, just as others like it. It is necessary to have a Military force, and it is also necessary to understand the basics of their Attributes and what they're used for. There are quite a few units in this game, some are Cargo-bearers with no combat abilities, some are support units that can increase Unit luck, or heal downed units between Rounds in combat. So for now in this guide, we're just going to cover the basics. I will cover more advanced mechanics within the combat system in another Guide.
۞ Attack: The Attack Stat of a Unit. This is how much damage this Unit deals to another's Stamina or Wall's Stamina.
۞ Stamina: The Health Stat of a Unit. This s how much damage this Unit can take before it falls in battle.
۞ Weakness: The Percentage at which a Unit's order is placed in Combat. Higher Weakness Units fight before Lower Weakness Units.
۞ Cargo: The Stat (Flat Value) of how much a Unit can carry, whether from battle or carrying resources to other cities.
۞ Speed: The Rate at which a Unit travels from Point A to Point B - Mixed Armies will move at the 'Speed' of the slowest unit.
۞ Luck: This Stat affects various properties in a Unit such as Avoiding Damage & Critically Striking.
۞ Rates: The Amount of Corn this Unit consumes based on the distance being traveled. Additive.
Now, there are also the 'Support' units in the game. Units such as the Quipucamayoc and Shaman.
The Quipucamayoc provides an increase to the Luck of units in your armies, but one of these Units cannot provide a beneficial amount to an entire army. It is good to have about 1/3rd as many Quipu's in your Army as your Total Army size, as to provide a beneficial increase to the overall 'Luck' statistic in your army.
The Shaman provides direct healing of Units during Battles with Barbarians or Other Players. During a Battle that isn't an 'Overwhelming Victory', there are 5 Rounds of Combat. Each Round all Units in your army attack the defending player, and vice versa. This may cause casualties on your side, labeled as units that 'Can Be Healed'. Shamans will attempt to heal a Unit that is felled during a Round of combat. More Shamans means more chances at healing more felled units each wave of combat, essentially making your Forces able to withstand more of a beating.
Tribes, Alliances & Fortifications
Alright so when you're capable of building a 'Tribal Council' (the structure allowing you to join/create a Tribe and form alliances), it would be advised to form your own alliances or join an existing Tribe. There are lots of friendly people on the server, and they're always willing to help you with any/all questions about the game, and help you if you need resources or aid to defend against attackers. Friends are invaluable in games such as these, and making them is just as such.
Should you choose to make your own Tribe, that does not mean you and your Tribe are on your own. Tribes can form alliances with other Tribes, and even wage wars with others. This is what keeps a game interesting, and no one will get in trouble for doing this, trust me - but I digress - making alliances with other Tribes is another great way to get started in the game. Having two Alliances of players willing to work with each other and work towards a similar goal is definitely an enjoyable experience. As I said previously, this is a very friendly game and it's still in it's early stages of development - but - that doesn't mean aggression/war is prohibited. Person versus Person is still a pretty fun aspect of this game, even if you can't do things like capture/suppress enemy cities.
Protections, Vacation Mode & Reporting
Ok, so there are quite a few ways to help yourself out and even protect yourself while you're away on errands or doing other life events of importance. This is somewhat of a frequently asked question, and one that has been answered a few times - so I will cover it here in this Guide.
Now, normally Protections are buy-able within the store for Turquoise. The hours you are protected for vary, and the cost increases with the duration. However, this is not the only way to protect yourself while you are away. There is also a mode called 'Vacation Mode' that you can access by going in to your Profile and going to Settings. There should be a tab that says 'Vacation Mode'. While in this mode you can spend an indefinite time away from the game without ever being registered as 'Inactive' - and you'll be somewhat protected as well, though your troops won't be as far as I understand. Currently, this is the best way to go about protecting your city from inactivity if you know/predict you will be away for a long period of time, no matter the length.
۞Protections can be bought within the 'Shop' In-Game for Turquoise for varying hours.
۞Vacation Mode should be used only if you believe you will be away for a long period of time.
۞ There is no limit on how long you can be on Vacation Mode.
Alright, so now we come to the topic of what you should do when a Player is behaving offensively or performing lewd conduct. First of all, reporting someone is not a feature that should be abused for little things. Serious matters such as extremely offensive language such as racism, excessive cussing, bullying/cyber-bullying and the like should be reported, and there are a few ways to go about doing this, and here they are;
۞ If you wish to address your Report/Concern, the first and foremost option is to use the 'Behavior Report' button on the Forums.
۞ If you wish to address your Report/Concern in private, you may privately message or email Admins M0H0 or Gaviotta, located in the 'Members' page.
